ZerbanooThe GWU Center for Excellence in Public Leadership in partnership with the GWU Global Women’s Institute and the GWU Argentine Tango Club invites you to an evening event ” Building Resilience through inspiration, tango and community with special guests Zerbanoo Gifford and Farida Master”.

Zerbanoo Gifford, the subject of a new book titled An Uncensored Life, will talk about her life as an author, senior journalist, a United Kingdom based human rights campaigner, and founder of the ASHA Leadership Centre, in England.  The ASHA Leadership Centre is an international retreat and training venue working for greater peace and understanding amongst diverse communities, especially young people. Zerbanoo will be accompanied by the book’s author, Farida Master.  Ranging from funny to fascinating, uplifting to downright outrageous, Zerbanoo’s life stories illustrate the challenges facing women in the modern world, and also the triumphs and possibilities available to those open to life, how to build resilience, confidence and cultivate balance in an increasing complex world. Bishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Lauraete, describes “Zerbanoo’s commitment to peace, to young people, and to creating a better world as evident from her track record.”

This evening will be extra special as you will also have a chance to quickly work on building some real skills around confidence and presence that all women and men can benefit in everyday life as you walk. Karin Tovar, the President of the GWU Argentine Tango Club will lead us into the beautiful tango rythms. Tango has been proven to improve posture, motion, mood, balance and confidence. If you can walk, you can tango, no experience required, except love to the music and desire to lead and follow at different times.

This event is geared towards women participants. Everyone is welcome.
