The Gathas Study Circle (GSC) is a platform for secular, comparative study and discussion of Zarathushtra’s teachings in the Gathas. It is not a class, there’s no teacher or textbook (a number of resources and books are used, participants are encouraged and do bring their favorite translation of the Gathas to the Study Circle). Study topics are suggested and selected by participants.
Inspired by Zararthushtra’s foundational teachings in Yansa 30 and verses 30.1 and 30.2, participants at the GSC, as a group, read from a number of scholarly translations of the Gathas in different languages (including and primarily Persian and English), compare and discuss scholar/translators’ transliteration, literal and free translations. Individually, each participant would conclude with her/his understanding of Zarathushtra’s essential teachings in Gathas. The Gathas Study Circle has been meeting twice a month (2nd and 4th Sundays) at the Kamran Dar-e Mehr. Since April 4, 2020, the Gathas Study Circle sessions have gone online, meetings are hold every Saturday, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM, on ZOOM Meetings platform. Please contact us for the Zoom link and call-in information and/or any question about the Gathas Study Circle.
